The Penfield School Transportation Association has existed in some form going back to the 1950's commonly referred to as the bus drivers organization. The early organization served primarily social and service needs of Penfield Central School District's bus drivers. The organization became a collective bargaining unit around 1978 using the name Penfield School Bus Driver's Association. The name was formally changed to Penfield School Transportation Association in 2000 by a vote of the membership when school bus attendants were added to the membership.
The Penfield School Transporation Association is a New York State Recognized Public Service Employee Collective Bargaining Unit. Our collective bargaining unit is not affiliated with any other organization. As a professional organization, our association has many of the charectaristics of a labor union. PSTA does not have a political component.
Day-to-day operations of PSTA are performed by the Executive Committee which meets regularly. Member meetings are conducted periodically throughout the year. Current members are invited to attend any meeting and to be active on any committee.
